Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Member-Countries on Wednesday passed the Resolution on Social-Legal protection of Great Patriotic War Veterans.
Resolution envisages the adoption of IPA CIS Appeal to the Parliamentarians and Governments of the member-countries on social-legal aid to the participants of the Great Patriotic War. It is emphasised in the Appeal that today in CIS countries live approximately 1 million war veterans and 6 millions people serving on the home front and the issue of their social-legal support is the subject of the discussion of Council of CIS Countries Leaders, that announced the year 2010 the year of Great Patriotic War veterans.
Improvement of the national legislations regarding veterans and on commemoration of Motherland protectors became one of the forms of interstate cooperation between CIS countries.
The members of the Ukrainian parliamentary
delegation, Serhii Hrynevetskyi used to express for
the necessity of special attention towards veterans, considerable evaluation of
their heroic deeds and pointed out the attention to the initiative of the political
leaders of Russian Federation on nomination of honorific title "A City of Deed
of Arms Glory" to the cities connected with the provision of utter defeat of
Hitler aggressors.
S. Hrynevetskyi emphasised that such cities are situated in Ukraine and Belarus Republic. According to him it is necessary to mention the fact in IPA CIS Appeal.
S. Hrynevetskyi briefed on specific plans of celebration of Great Victory 65th anniversary in Ukraine.
As it was briefed before, Ukrainian parliamentary delegation headed by Volodymyr Lytvyn, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stays Russian Federation on 6-8 April (Saint Petersburg City) and takes part in 34th Plenary Meeting of Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Countries-Participants.
Ukrainian delegation consists of the People´s Deputies of Ukraine: S. Hrynevetskii (Lytvyn Bloc faction), K. Samoilyk, "CPU faction", O. Lohvynenko (YTB faction).
